ABOUT PALERMO COLLECTION As the capital city of Sicily, Palermo was the perfect choice to use as inspiration for our Palermo Bifocal Safety Glasses. Not only is this city the home of the Palermo cathedral tombs, but it is also well known for the impressive Teatro Massimo theatre, the home of opera performances for centuries. Known as an urban melting pot in Italy due to its diverse history and culture, Palermo is the capital of the Italian island of Sicily. The 12th-century Palermo Cathedral houses royal tombs, while the huge neoclassical Teatro Massimo is known for opera performances. Also in the center are the Palazzo dei Normanni, a royal palace started in the 9th century, and the Cappella Palatina, with Byzantine mosaics. Busy markets include the central Ballarò street market and the Vucciria, near the port.
